Which Victorinox Swiss Army knife should you buy?

Victorinox makes dozens of models and they are all the same steel, made in the same factory. What separates them is size and how many tools you are willing to carry every day. That is the only decision worth thinking about.

Classic SD (58mm) — the one most people should buy

Keyring size. Blade, scissors, nail file, screwdriver, tweezers, toothpick. It weighs nothing, so it is the one that actually stays on your keys rather than in a drawer. If you are buying your first, buy this.

Spartan (91mm) — the classic shape

The knife people picture when they hear "Swiss Army knife". Two blades, a bottle opener, a can opener and two screwdrivers. Pocket rather than keyring.

Huntsman (91mm) — the Spartan plus scissors and a saw

The most useful upgrade in the range. Scissors get used far more than any blade, and the wood saw is better than it looks.

SwissChamp (91mm) — everything

Over thirty functions including pliers, a magnifying glass and a chisel. It is thick. Buy it because you want it, not because you need the tools.

Alox models — slimmer, no plastic

Alox is ribbed aluminium instead of the usual Cellidor scales: thinner, tougher, and no tweezers or toothpick, because those live inside plastic scales. See which handle material to pick.

Every model is numbered — the Classic SD you buy is a 0.6223 with a colour code after it. Browse the full range in Victorinox, or ask on WhatsApp if you want a specific reference sourced.
